Why Have A Quiet Time?

How well do we know Jesus? Is He just a passing acquaintance - someone we would recognize if we saw a picture of Him in a manger or on a cross? Is He a friend that we see at least a couple of times a year maybe at a Christmas or Easter or do we try to meet with Him weekly? When we ask Jesus to be our Savior, we become part of His Church, His Body of Believers and the Bible says that the Church is the Bride of Christ,. This means that Jesus is our Bridegroom and just as within any marriage, constant communication is important. Jesus loves us and wants to share in every detail of our lives and as Christ's Bride, we should be "devoted" to Him - totally committed in our love and affection for Him.

In order to continue to grow in our relationship with Jesus, we should make it a daily priority to spend some quality time getting to know our Savior. By spending time with Him, we begin to learn more about His ways and the plans He has for us and that we can trust Him in everything. To get started...

"Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." Joshua 1:8

Hint: One of the best possible prayers we can pray is to speak God's Word aloud and make His Word our prayer for the day.
